Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take my insurance?
I accept Aetna & United Healthcare; for other insurers, I provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you offer sliding scale?
Yes, however I only offer 1-2 spots at a time. Contact for availability.
Do I have to be LGBTQ /queer / ADHD / Autistic / neurodivergent, etc to work with you?
Nope! If you think we may be a good fit for each other, definitely reach out!
Do you offer ADHD diagnosis or testing?
Not at this time. I have great referrals I can provide if you are looking for an ADHD or Autism Spectrum diagnosis or testing. My licenses and scope of practice do not allow for me to diagnose or assess for these disorders. Although I have taken many trainings which allow for me to treat/ work with them.
Do you write work / school accommodations letters?
On a case by case basis, only after we’ve spent some time working together. Psychiatrist / Psychologist or MD letters are always preferred.
What are your credentials/ in what states are you licensed?
Kim is a fully independent licensed counselor in the states of Nevada and Washington. She is licensed to treat Substance Use Disorders in NV as well.
Nevada: Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC - CP5355) & Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC - 07353-LC)
Washington: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC - LH-61413918)
Do you use science / research based modalities?
Yes! I integrate many modalities in my work including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic therapy, strengths based, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing, etc.
Do you offer EMDR?
Not at this time. I have great referrals I can provide if you are looking for an EMDR trained therapist..
Can I see you in person?
Not at this time. I’m currently only telehealth. I made the decision to relocate back to my home state to be closer to family. I do however miss seeing my clients and colleagues in office!
Do you offer sessions over the phone/ camera off?
No. Only 10% of communication is verbal.. that means I’m missing out on so many context clues I can use to better help you! Which leads me to my next FAQ..
What video platform do you use for sessions?
Ah great question. We will meet over a HIPAA compliant version of Zoom.
Can we talk between sessions (over the phone / via text / email)?
The short answer is no. I don’t provide on-call services. Please call or text 988 in case of a mental health emergency or 911 for medical emergencies. At night and over the weekend my phone is off or on silent, so I’ll return your message during my work hours. The same is true with work related emails.
I practice what I preach as it relates to boundaries and self care!
What is the best way to schedule a consult?
The best way to schedule a consult is by clicking the Book Now button and then Request an Appointment. If you aren’t seeing a day or time that aligns with your schedule, then hit that Contact button. Fill out your info and Kim will reach out to you within 48- 72 hrs (unless she’s on vacation, hang in there!).
